Report of assault puts man back behind bars
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A call about an assault puts a man recently-released from jail back behind bars.
They say a woman called to say her boyfriend, 22-year-old Antonio Simpson, assaulted her and threatened to shoot up her home.
Officers went to her home then took her down to police headquarters to file a restraining order against Simpson.
Police say while she was at the station, her mother called to say she spotted Simpson outside the home.
Officers arrived and they say Simpson took off running.
After a short chase, they caught him.
Officers say while Simpson was running, he tossed a handgun and drugs.
Police retrieved both.
According to court documents, Simpson was released from jail earlier this year after serving time on charges related to a shooting last year.
That shooting happened outside a convenience store back in September of 2016 and left a man with life-threatening injuries.
Documents say witnesses saw Simpson shoot several rounds during the altercation.
Simpson faces several charges after this latest arrest.
