Man accused of burning dog alive

SCIENCE HILL, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Pulaski County man was arrested Friday, accused of burning a dog alive, according to State Police.

Investigators say when they showed up at 40-year old James Calhoun’s house on Meadow View Drive in Science Hill, they found a dog that had been burned to death behind the home.

Troopers say when Calhoun came out of his house, he was holding a gun.  Investigators say after several loud, verbal commands from authorities, Calhoun dropped the weapon and was arrested without incident.

KSP says Calhoun was charged with Torture of a Dog or Cat 1st Offense, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree-Police Officer, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree and Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree.

He was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
