Lexington police sergeant pleads not guilty on rape charge
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington police sergeant has been indicted by a grand jury on a rape charge.
Sergeant Christopher Morrow is charged with one count of rape in the first degree.
He entered a not guilty plea to the charge Friday at a hearing in Fayette County Circuit Court.
Morrow wasn’t supposed to be in court until October 5, but after meeting his ten-thousand dollar cash bond, his arraignment was moved to Friday.
Sergeant Morrow has been working with the Lexington Police Department since January of 2001. Now, he has been suspended without pay because of the rape charge.
Morrow’s attorney Scott Crosbie entered a not-guilty plea on Morrow’s behalf during Friday’s hearing.
Crosbie says Morrow believes he will be found not guilty, and says he hopes to re-join the police force when the case is over.
Crosbie says for now, they do not know much about the specifics of the allegation, but says they are remaining confident in his innocence.
In court, the judge ordered Morrow have no contact with the alleged suspect.
Sergeant Morrow is due back in court December 6 for a pre-trial hearing.
