A man is dead after a boating accident

WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Labor Day weekend marks a busy time on Lake Cumberland.

Some sad news to report though.

The Wayne County Coroner says a man is dead and another is hurt after a boating accident Sunday morning.

A deputy coroner says he pronounced 70-year-old Donnie Flynn from Pulaski County dead around 8:30.

He says Flynn and his son were in a fishing competition around Camp Earl Wallace.

It was a fundraiser for a Somerset police officer’s son.

According to the deputy coroner, Flynn’s boat hit rocks thrusting the two men out into the water.

Investigators says early morning fog could be part of the reason why.
