Police Find More Than They’re Looking For

Lexington Police made an unexpected drug arrest after responding the scene of a shot fired into a home Tuesday night.

Police said a man called officials after a bullet nearly hit him when it came inside his Lori Lane home.

While investigating where the shot came from, police said tips led them to a house on Forest Green Drive, just one street over from the victim’s home.

It was there that they arrested Damon Burchfield, 23. Police said Burchfield was looking at a gun when it accidentally fired.

Police said the bullet ricocheted off a sidewalk and into the victim’s home.

He was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment.

No one was hurt.

While arresting Burchfield, police said a strong marijuana smell alerted officers.

According to court documents, Casey Roberts, 22, who lives at the home, would not consent to a search.

Police obtained and executed a search warrant on the home, where they said they found marijuana and other drug paraphernalia, plus a gun and $1,000 cash hidden in the oven.

Court documents said Roberts admitted it was all his.

He was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana.
