Man accused of beating woman with wooden object with nails in it
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman says she was beaten unconscious with a wooden object with nails in it, according to the Laurel County sheriff.
Deputies took 46-year-old William Baker of London into custody on Saturday at 6:10 p.m. off Somerset Road after they responded to a domestic violence call.
When they got to the scene, they spoke to a woman who said she had been struck in the head with a wooden object with nails in it and that it knocked her unconscious.
She says she woke up having seizures.
She says she was also hit several times in the face, arms and stomach.
The sheriff says deputies saw visible marks on the victim.
They also say the woman began having seizures while deputies were at the scene.
She was taken to the hospital.
Deputies say when they tried to arrest Baker, he became combative and scuffled with deputies briefly.
Baker is charged with assault and resisting arrest.
