Park celebrates skate spot opening with free clinic

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The weather was perfect for the opening of a new skate spot in Lexington Tuesday afternoon.

The Valley Park Skate Spot officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

To celebrate the opening of the skate area, youth are able to participate in a two-day skate clinic to learn basic skateboarding skills.

The free clinic is being held Tuesday and Wednesday, July 18th and 19th starting at 1 PM.

The skate spot is an addition to Valley Park.

The free skate clinics have been made possible through a partnership with Friends for Skateparks and Cosmic Skate Shop as well as Adopt a Park.

Seasoned instructors will be leading the free-clinic and participants will have the chance to win 1 of 35 skateboard and helmet sets at the end of the skate clinic.

The Valley Park Skate Spot includes ramps, rails, and other unique obstacles.

The skate spot is said to good for beginners, but also challenging for experienced skaters.
