Escaped inmate behind bars

BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The second of two escaped inmates in Bell County is now back behind bars.

The Bell County Sheriff says this weekend, officers caught 27-year-old Tommy Smith at a home in Middlesboro.

The sheriff’s office says they got an anonymous tip that’s where he was.

Deputies say Smith escaped the Bell County Detention Center at the start of the month with 23-year-old Jeffrey Clark.

Three days after the escape, and a high-speed chase, Clark surrendered himself to state police.

Now, that Smith is back too he’ll be facing an escape charge in addition to the drug charges he faced before.
