Two shot in domestic situation in Madison County
The shootings happened in a home on Mule Shed Lane
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Madison County Sheriff’s deputies say around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, a call came in at a home on Mule Shed Lane for an ongoing domestic situation where a woman had an Emergency Protective Order (EPO) out against her estranged husband.
Deputies say Tommy Edington, the estranged husband of Amanda Edington, showed up at the house with a shotgun. They say Amanda saw him approaching the house with the gun. Deputies say she was inside the home with her son, James Spicer and an acquaintance, Hogan Rose. They say she locked the front door and the three took shelter in the back master bedroom.
Deputies say Tommy Edington kicked-in a side door, went to the back bedroom and shot through the door, hitting Hogan Rose, who returned fire, hitting Edington.
Investigators say while Edington was reloading his shotgun, Spicer and Rose ran out of the house. They say Edington then grabbed his estranged wife and barricaded the two inside a bathroom.
Deputies arrived and say they were able to talk Tommy Edington into surrendering peacefully. They say Amanda Edington and James Spicer were not hurt.
Tommy Edington was rushed into surgery at UK Hospital in Lexington, according to investigators. He will be taken straight to jail once he’s released from the hospital.
Deputies say he was charged with Murder-Domestic Violence (Attempt), Burglary first-degree, Violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Deputies say after escaping from the home, Hogan Rose drove himself to Baptist Health Richmond where he was treated and released.
The case remains under investigation by Lt. Todd Allen.
