Kentucky’s first Buc-ee’s opens in Madison County

The family travel center is located at mile marker 83 along I-75

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky’s first Buc-ee’s family travel center opened on Tuesday in Madison County with an official ribbon-cutting, fanfare and huge crowds.

The business is at mile marker 83 along I-75.

Local, state and federal politicians were on hand for the 11:00 a.m. ribbon-cutting, including Buc-ee’s co-founder, Arch “Beaver” Aplin.

The chain began in Texas in 1982 with one location.  Now, you can find Buc-ee’s in four states with expansion into a number of other states planned going forward.

Aplin says two more Buc-ee’s will be coming to Kentucky, in South Grove, along I-65 and in Oak Grove, along I-24.

Buc-ee’s has more than 100 fueling stations.  The chain prides itself on having the cleanest restrooms of any rest stop in America.  Buc-ee’s is also known for it fresh brisket, Beaver Nuggets, Sugar Nuts and fudge among many other food and merchandise items.  The company says it’s not just a rest stop, but a destination.

The business is already having an economic impact for the county and state.  The Richmond location employs some 200 full-time employees.

Buc-ee’s is open 24-hours a day, year round.
