The Road to Derby 143
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The road to Derby is almost at an end.
McCraken faltered in the Blue Grass at Keeneland, but he’s been looking good in Louisville since.
Trainer Ian Wilkes likes what he sees and was happy, believe it or not, to see the show finish in the Blue Grass turn out the way it did.
Practical Joke was another Blue Grass runner…finishing second behind Irap and just ahead of McCraken.
Trainer Chad Brown has gone without the blinkers of late. The horse is getting across the track nicely at Churchill. Is there any thought the Champagne Stakes winner likes the wait on others to push him?
Todd Pletcher’s Patch has gotten plenty of pub since arriving on site. The one-eyed Derby contender at times looks as laid back as a pony.
Calm, cool and collected at all times, Patch has endured plenty and faced adversity both on and off the track.
So how does Pletcher see his works heading up to this weekend?
Hear from all three trainers in the video.
