Two injured in officer-involved collision in Scott County

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two people, including a Georgetown Police Officer, were injured Tuesday night in a collision during an attempted traffic stop, according to Georgetown Police.

Investigators say the officer, whose name wasn’t released, saw a car run a red light on Cherry Blossom Way just off of I-75 Exit 126 around 7:00 p.m.

Police say the officer turned on his emergency lights and siren, pulled around vehicles to catch up to the car that ran the red light, went through a red light himself and collided with a car coming the other way that had the green light.

The driver of that car was taken to the hospital in Georgetown and was listed in stable condition, according to investigators.

The officer went to the hospital where he was treated and released with minor injuries, according to police.

The Georgetown Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Unit (ARU) is investigating the collision.
