UPDATE: Laurel Co. teen found safe

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Update 10:09 p.m.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff office they have located missing juvenile Whitley Smith. She was found safe on Thursday afternoon just before 1 p.m.

9 a.m.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says his department is investigating after a teenage girl was reported missing.

According to the sheriff, 16-year-old Whitney Smith was last seen getting on a school bus early Wednesday morning. Smith is described as 5’2″, 15o pounds, with green eyes, a light complexion, and auburn hair down to her shoulders.

Investigators say Smith wasn’t on the 4 p.m. bus she was supposed to be on. They say she was wearing leggings with a black and white shirt.
