Traffic Advisory: Work on Morehead Bypass rest of week
MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Motorists should expect flagged traffic and delays on the Morehead Bypass (US 60) in Rowan County this Thursday and Friday as contractors apply protective sealant to the highway.
Crews will begin applying sealant about 7 a.m. Thursday, April 13, on US 60 between the KY 519 and University Drive intersections near downtown Morehead. Work will continue until around 7 p.m., and will take place on Friday from about 7 a.m. until mid or late afternoon. The project is a mobile operation, and will require temporary lane restrictions and flagged traffic where crews are working. Motorists should expect heavy traffic and delays, and should plan travel accordingly.
Pavement sealing operations reduce roadway cracking and extend the life of blacktop, and are part of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s preventative maintenance program.
Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
