Family of shooting victim speak out

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The family of a man shot in Lexington Friday night is now speaking out.

A woman who says she’s the man’s aunt doesn’t understand why no one has been arrested in connection to the shooting.

Sarah Brown-Rock says her nephew and the alleged shooter were actually friends but that all changed when an argument broke out between the two Friday afternoon.

“My nephew was invited into his home. He actually came and picked him up,” said Brown-Rock.

Brown-Rock says her nephew, husband and two young children were hanging out at the home off Marcellus Drive Friday when her nephew and the alleged shooter started arguing.

“The shooter asked my nephew to leave. Me nephew was leaving, my son saw him pull the gun. My husband was taking the kids out the back door to get them away from it. My nephew was leaving. He was shot on the porch,” said Brown-Rock.

Police arrived at the house minutes later, finding her nephew laying outside shot multiple times where he was taken to UK hospital.

“They weren’t able to do anything but stop the bleeding. Today they go in to fix whatever they can fix,” said Brown-Rock.

Brown-Rock says her nephew is now in stable but serious condition, but can’t understand why no one has been arrested in connection to his shooting.

“It’s not okay that this person is walking the streets and my nephew is fighting for his life. It’s not okay,” said Brown-Rock.

Brown-Rock says she just wants answers from Lexington Police and for someone to pay for this crime.

“I hope that everybody who knows the victim applies pressure to the Lexington Police Department to do something. Use your voice for something. Don’t just sit back and let this happen with nothing. He deserves better,” said Brown-Rock.

Lexington Police are still investigating the shooting.

No arrests have been made.
