Churchill Downs unveils $16M renovation
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Churchill Downs is unveiling its $16 million dollar renovation.
The second floor clubhouse now features more than 220 flat-screen televisions, three new themed bars, 60 wagering windows and 40 self-serve betting machines.
The facility has also installed more restrooms and upgraded food and beverage offerings.
Kevin Flanery, Churchill Downs’ president, says the upgrades will enrich Derby-goers’ experience enjoying the race live, as opposed to watching it at home. “I think more than anything, they’ll see a re-imagination of the history of Churchill Downs,” says Flanery. “So, as they’re here, the traffic flow will be much smoother. They’ll also get to take a self-guided tour and see some of the history of Churchill Downs.”
The track says all of the renovations will be done before derby day on May 6th.
