UPDATE: Arrest made after body found in Clay Co.

MANCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police have released the identity of a person whose body was found in a wooded area off Whites Branch Road in Clay County on Thursday.

Troopers say the victim was 36-year-old Shannon M. Saylor, of London.  Police say Saylor was the subject of a missing person investigation after disappearing on March 4.

According to officers, 47-year-old Jeffrey S. Taylor has been arrested in connection to the death.  He has been charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence.

He was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.

KSP: Body found in Clay County

Kentucky State Police Detectives are investigating the discovery of a body found in a wooded area off Whites Branch Road in Clay County.

The remains were located by Troopers on Sunday at about 4:20 PM.

Investigators say the remains have been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The identity of the victim, along with the cause and time of death are pending.
