The fire department says the crash involved an Envoy, a lumber truck, and a pickup truck.

The fire department is still trying to piece together how the accident happened.  Investigators say they’ve been able to determine that either the lumber truck or the pickup truck veered into the wrong side of the road, but they are receiving conflicting information over which vehicle was in which lane.  The Envoy was hit by falling lumber.

There were two women, mother and daughter, in the Envoy. One of them, a teenage passenger, died. The driver of the Envoy was reportedly alert and talking, before she was airlifted to UK from the scene.

The drivers of the two trucks were unhurt, according to the fire department.

A statement from Montgomery County Schools reads, in part, “Our entire High School family and Montgomery County School District family is heartbroken today after hearing our student and friend died in an automobile accident this morning.”  The school system says that counselors and other support staff are being made available for students and staff members.

The superintendent of Mongomery County Schools says the teen was a sophmore honors student and involved in the band.

“She was absolutely loved by everybody that knew her,” said Dr. Matt Thompson, superintendent.

The name of the girl has not been released, the coroner says her family hasn’t been notified.  ABC 36 isn’t naming the mother out of respect for the family.
