Lexington celebrates St. Patrick’s Day
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The luck of the Irish comes early this year.
St. Patrick’s day is next Friday, but Lexington celebrated this weekend.
Saturday started with a chilly shamrock shuffle and of course the parade capped off the celebration.
Colleen Kelly, of Colleen’s Creations says, “Here in Lexington, we actually have a huge Irish community. So it’s always fun to gather and celebrate together.”
President of the Bluegrass Irish Society, Bill Enright says, “The Irish had done a great deal for Central Kentucky and the United States. Where people immigrants that brought our problems over here and turned them into opportunities.”
This year former Lexington Vice Mayor Linda Gorton was parade grand marshal.
