Traffic stop leads to drug bust on I-75

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – A traffic stop along I-75 in Whitley County landed a Tennessee man in jail on drug charges, according to State Police.

An officer with KSP-Vehicle Enforcement pulled over a van near mile marker 25 for having improper registration plates, according to investigators.

State Police say the van’s driver, 45-year old Murriel T. Ward, Junior, of Pioneer, Tennessee, had a suspended license and was in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Investigators say numerous needles and syringes were seized along with a needle containing a white milky-colored substance believed to be illegal drugs.

Ward was arrested and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
