Fugitive in deputy assault case arrested in Laurel County
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man was arrested Friday afternoon in connection to an assault on a Laurel County sheriff’s deputy back on January 30, 2017.
Investigators say information led them to 42-year old Roger Sizemore, of Lily, off of Prewitt Cemetery Road, south of London.
Deputies say Sizemore struggled with them during his arrest, kicking them and refusing their commands.
Investigators say Sizemore had suspected methamphetamine, loaded needles and Neurontin on him when he was arrested.
Deputies say on January 30, Sizemore was involved in a domestic violence incident off of Moberly Bend Road in Laurel County. During that investigation, he was stopped in a vehicle by Deputy Tommy Houston. Investigators say Sizemore drove off even though Deputy Houston had reached into the vehicle in an attempt to get him to stop.
Investigators say Sizemore put the vehicle in gear and dragged Deputy Houston alongside the vehicle, resulting in injury to the deputy.
Deputies say Sizemore was also charged Friday on a Laurel Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court.
Investigators say they also arrested 25-year old Kayla Philpot, of London, on Friday for reportedly giving an officer a false name or address and hindering prosecution of apprehension. Deputies say she had another person’s Social Security card in her possession.
Both Sizemore and Philpot were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
