Two Rescued From Burning SUV Following Accident
Two people were pulled from a burning SUV following an accident near London Sunday afternoon.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s office said Alen Wombles, 30, was driving a Ford Explorer at a high rate of speed on Kentucky 472 when he swerved to avoid a motorcycle.
Deputies said he lost control, ran off the road and flipped over, causing the SUV to burst in flames.
Emergency officials were able to pull Wombles and his passenger, Crystal Roark, 34, out of the burning vehicle.
The sheriff said Wombles was charged with driving under the influence and Roark was charged with alcohol intoxication.
Both were taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with serious injuries.
