Man Killed By Train In Somerset

A man was killed after being hit by a train in Somerset Tuesday night.

Somerset police were called to the tracks near the former Monticello Street underpass around 8 p.m. The crew of a southbound Norfolk-Southern train reported to police they’d struck a man who’d been walking on the tracks in the direction of the approaching train.

A police helicopter was already airborne, said officers, and the flight crew found the victim’s body near the railroad track near Trinity Springs Park off West Columbia Street.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.

His identity has not yet been released.
