Sheriff: Man Flagged Down Driver, Then Raped Her
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says a man flagged down a driver, then kidnapped and raped her.
Deputies say it happened around 12:30 Thursday morning when the victim pulled over on 7th Street in Corbin. According to investigators, the suspect, who was waving a flashlight, claimed there was a wreck ahead. But when the victim stopped, deputies say the man jumped into the woman’s van and assaulted her, drove to an unknown location and raped her at knifepoint.
According to investigators, the man then tied the victim up and put her in the back of the van. Authorities say the vehicle was abandoned off U.S. 25 in Lily. Deputies say they were called to the scene after some gas station employees nearby heard the woman screaming.
