LPD: Man Hits Pedestrian, Almost Hits Officer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police accuse a man of hitting a pedestrian, driving off then almost hitting a police officer.

According to court documents, 25-year-old Dakota Gay was arrested just before 3 a.m. Sunday after police say an off-duty officer saw him hit a person walking across the road at Main Street and Mill Street in downtown Lexington.

Police say when the officer tried to stop Gay, he kept going, almost hitting the officer. Gay was stopped five minutes later and arrested.

The pedestrian left the scene.

Gay is charged with wanton endangerment, driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
