US 127 North in Franklin County Reopens After Crash

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – US 127 North in Franklin County reopened late Thursday night after being temporarily shutdown after a car accident that left two people injured, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say a car, with two people inside, went off the highway, traveled along the shoulder, hit a tree and rolled over several times.

Investigators say one person was thrown from the car. He was airlifted to UK Hospital in Lexington with serious to life-threatening injuries.

The other occupant was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Frankfort.

Investigators say they think speed and alcohol/drugs were possible factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by accident reconstruction specialists.
