Hundreds Protest in Louisville Against Trump Election

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – About five hundred people have turned out in Louisville to protest the election of Republican Donald Trump as president.

Protesters remained peaceful, chanting and carrying signs as they marched from Jefferson Square Park downtown to the Fourth Street Live entertainment complex and back Thursday evening.

A day earlier, five people were arrested at Western Kentucky University as demonstrators protested Trump’s election.

The Daily News in Bowling Green reports protesters clashed with Trump supporters Wednesday evening outside a residence hall.

Campus police Sgt. Rafael Casas said the crowd gathered outside Pearce Ford Tower was peaceful at first, but then escalated into people shoving each other and throwing bottles.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Department said it arrested five people who refused multiple orders to leave the area. All five are charged with failure to disperse and disorderly conduct.
