KSP: Officer Dragged by Car
MORGANTOWN, Ky (WTVQ)-Kentucky State Police in Bowling Green are investigating an officer involved shooting they say happened after someone dragged a police officer in a car. Troopers say Butler County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Reneer pulled a car over Sunday morning on Logansport Road near Dave Gaskey Lane in Morgantown.
They say the passenger in the car, Randy Clark from Bowling Green, started physically fighting with deputy Reneer. Reneer used his taser. The KSP says the passenger continued to fight, getting control of the driver’s side of the car and accelerating, dragging the deputy.
Reneer then fired several shots from his gun. Troopers say the car stopped after hitting a guardrail at the intersection of Logansport and Dave Gaskey. The coroner pronounced Randy Clark dead at the scene.
Deputy Reneer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
