List of Counties Issuing Burn Bans Grows

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The list of counties in eastern and southeastern Kentucky issuing outdoor burn bans continues to grow as conditions remain favorable for the spread of wildfires.

According to the Kentucky Division of Forestry, the following counties have banned all outdoor burning:

-Breathitt County
-Floyd County
-Harlan County
-Laurel County
-Letcher County
-McCreary County
-Monroe County
-Owsley County
-Pike County
-Whitley County

Wildfires have been burning in parts of eastern and southeastern Kentucky as the state has experienced unusually warm weather. The daily high temperatures, which have set records in some cities, coupled with wind, low humidity and dry conditions, have been the perfect combination for wildfires to begin and spread.
