Louisville Police Officer One of Two Pedestrians Killed in Lexington Car Crash

LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ)-A Louisville police officer and one other pedestrian are dead after a car hit and killed them in Lexington Saturday morning.

Suzanne Whitlow, 26, is charged with two counts of manslaughter and one count of DUI in the case.

Police say Whitlow was driving on Upper Street when she lost control of her car and hit two people walking near the road.

Both pedestrians were taken to the hospital where they died from their injuries.

Louisville Metro Police Department has identified one of the pedestrians as Detective Jason Schweitzer. The Department says Schweitzer began his career with the Jefferson County Police Department in 2001 then became a Louisville Metro detective. Schweitzer was also Vice President of the River City FOP Lodge 614.

Lexington police say they will release the name of the second victim once that person’s family has been notified.
