Ex-Penn State coach takes stand in whistleblower lawsuit

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) — Former Penn State assistant football coach Mike McQueary is telling his story to jurors in his defamation and whistleblower trial against the university.

McQueary took the stand Friday in the fifth day of testimony in the case. He’s seeking more than $4 million in lost wages and other claims.

McQueary is recounting a story he’s told several times about seeing Jerry Sandusky sexually abuse a boy in a team shower in 2001.

He’s describing how he reported the event to then-head coach Joe Paterno and two administrators who were later charged with crimes for their response after hearing McQueary’s story.

McQueary was put on paid leave after Sandusky was charged with child molestation in 2011, and never returned to the football program. He testified against Sandusky in 2012.
