Forest Fire Breaks Out in Montgomery County

       It was a windy and dry Sunday in Montgomery County making  for perfect conditions for a forest fire.

     That’s exactly what broke out a little before 2pm on a rural hillside just east of Jeffersonville off Highway 1050.

     The terrain made life difficult for local fire officials, who had to call in the Division of Forestry to help contain the fire.

     The Forestry Division would pave a path around the fire containing it a few hours later, however the damage was already done by then.

    Fire officials say about 15 acres were destroyed in the fire, however no homes were destroyed and no one was hurt.

     The Forestry Division would leave the smoldering scene a little after 6pm.

     Officials say they do not yet know what may have caused the fire.
