DUI arrest after multiple crashes, attempted carjacking in Nicholasville

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man is in jail and Main Street in Nicholasville has reopened after a series of crashes and an attempted carjacking Wednesday morning.

Police say they were called to South Main Street just before 8:00 a.m. on a report of a collision.  While they were on their way to the scene, officers say two other crashes occurred, the third of which actually pushed a car about a block on Main Street from Edgewood Drive to Brown Street.

Police say a fire battalion chief stopped at the third wreck on Main Street, and saw Jonathon Wilson, 33, attempting to carjack a vehicle.  When the chief went to intervene, officers say Wilson fought with the firefighter.  That’s when police arrived, and say Wilson tried to fight them as well.

Wilson was eventually taken into custody and taken to the Jessamine County Detention Center.  He has been charged with assault, wanton endangerment, and DUI.

One driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries as a result of the wrecks.  The carjacking victim was uninjured.
