Family sponsors justice rally in memory of Maryiah Coleman and baby Jakobe


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – On the day Maryiah Coleman was expected to give birth to her son, Jakobe– a justice rally is scheduled in downtown Lexington.

Coleman, 22, was gunned down outside of the Matador North Apartments while she walked her dog last month.

Coleman and her unborn baby did not survive the shooting.

Investigators have been following up on several leads, but no arrests have been made.

Maryiah Coleman’s family have planned a march and rally in her honor.

The family told ABC 36 they believe someone knows something and are hoping the rally will  encourage anyone to come forward with information that can help solve the case.

The justice rally begins at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday outside of the Fayette County Courthouse.
