1st Georgetown Fairness Pride Festival & Community Cookout to be held Sat.

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Georgetown Fairness will be hosting the first Georgetown Fairness Pride Festival and Community Cookout on Saturday.

The event will be held in Royal Spring Park at 104 South Water Street from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Admission is free.

The festival will feature free food, live music, a participatory art project, speakers, and booths from more than a dozen regional organizations.

Organizers say the event aims to build support for a local LGBT anti-discrimination Fairness ordinance.

Georgetown Fairness is a group of local leaders working for LGBT rights with the Scott County Chapter of Kentuckians For The Commonwealth (KFTC) and the Fairness Coalition, which includes the ACLU of Kentucky, Fairness Campaign, Kentucky Commission on Human Rights, and Lexington Fairness.

Currently eight Kentucky cities have Fairness Ordinances prohibiting discrimination against LGBT people in employment, housing, and public accommodations. They include Covington, Danville, Frankfort, Lexington, Louisville, Midway, Morehead, and the Appalachian town of Vicco.
