WPD: Attack on walking trail by someone wearing a clown mask
WINCHESTER Ky. (WTVQ) – Winchester Police say someone was attacked at the Winchester Traveling Trail along the bypass and Colby road by someone in a clown mask Thursday night.
Investigators did not release the age or gender of the reported victim or attacker.
According to the Winchester Sun, the suspect was dressed in a clown mask and tried to assault someone at the trail.
The newspaper reports police searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.
Winchester Police offered safety tips on its Facebook page following this reported incident.
Police reminded people to never hike alone, carry your cell phone with you, and that all public parks, walking trails, and cemeteries close at dusk.
In Winchester it is illegal to wear a hood or a mask that conceals your identity. There are a few exceptions for holidays, those under the age of 16, and those wearing them for protection.
According to city ordinance the penalties for wearing a hood or a mask are as much as $100 and/or up to 50-days in jail.
This latest reported clown sighting comes after reports last week in Mount Sterling where police say they pulled people over who were dressed as clowns, but claimed they were just doing it for fun.
