One dead after Whitley Co. house fire

WHITLEY CO., Ky. (WTVQ) – A fire early Tuesday morning in Whitley County has claimed one life.

According to The News Journal, firefighters responded to the call around 6:30 at a home on KY 26.

The paper says multiple departments fought the flames.  One chief told the paper that the home was nearly engulfed by the time they arrived.

After an hour of battling the fire, crews were able to make their way inside where they found a body, according to the paper.

The victim’s identity hasn’t been released yet.

The News Journal says the Whitley County Coroner and Kentucky State Police are investigating.
