Police: New leads in Maryiah Coleman murder case

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police are sharing some leads they’re looking into following the shooting and murder of Maryiah Coleman two weeks ago.

The 22-year-old  was shot and killed in front of the matador north apartments on Winburn drive.
Coleman was 8 months pregnant — her unborn son did not survive the shooting.

Police say coleman was outside walking her dog when she was shot once in the back.

ABC 36 was told there were several people in the area at the time and neighbors reported hearing at least two gunshots that night.

Investigators say they recovered a gun near the scene, but have not confirmed if that was the weapon used in the shooting.

Witnesses also told investigators, they saw a man with dreadlocks and a cast on his arm running away from the scene.

Police say they do believe more than one suspect was involved in the shooting.

Family members told abc 36 they believe someone knows something and should come forward.

An award for $1,000 has been set for information leading to an arrest.
