GoVoteKY.com registers over 40K to vote

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – More than 40,000 Kentuckians have used the Commonwealth’s online voter registration portal at GoVoteKY.com to register to vote or update their existing registration, according to Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes. The number surpasses the goal that Grimes had set for the portal.

“Online voter registration has been a game-changer for Kentuckians,” said Grimes. “They’re responding overwhelmingly to this new tool because it’s easier than ever to register to vote and update your registration online. And, importantly, it’s saving time and money for government.”

More than 3,500 of the approximately 12,700 new voters who registered online are 18-year-olds who will be eligible to cast their first vote in a general election on Nov. 8. The new voters represent 6,879 Democrats, 4,018 Republicans, and 1,860 Independents or other parties.

The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 8 general election is Oct. 11.
