Fayette Co. schools collecting prom dresses
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Prom season is right around the corner, but buying that prom dress can be pretty expensive.
That’s why the Fayette Co. public school district, in conjunction with True Beauty Prom Dresses, is accepting donated prom dresses. School officials say they are collecting dresses this week that will be redistributed to young women in need in Lexington.
School officials are asking juniors and seniors to bring in old prom dresses, shoes, and accessories. They are also accepting bridesmaid dresses.
Young women who qualify will get a chance to go shopping for the donated items at a prom store at Seton Catholic School. The organizer behind True Beauty Prom Dresses, says right now, they have about 50 dresses, but their goal is to help at least 100 girls.
Students who donate will be entered to win in a drawing for a Malone’s gift card. In addition, Paul Mitchell Hair School of Design is offering discounted hair cuts for men, and discounted prom up-dos for any woman who donates at a value of $25.
Donations can be dropped off at Seton Catholic School on March 12 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., or on March 19 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Cash donations can also be submitted online.
