9/11 commemorations in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Flags across Kentucky have been ordered to half-staff in honor of the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks, which killed thousands of people at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in 2001. This year marks the 23rd anniversary of the attacks.
In Lexington, the fire department held a remembrance and wreath-laying ceremony at the Fallen Firefighters Monument in Phoenix Park.
Later Wednesday, the fire department will also host a memorial stair climb at 7 p.m. at UK’s Kroger Field to honor the fallen heroes of 9/11.
