8,000 Backpacks Ready For Distribution
The YMCA has joined with 18 neighborhoods throughout Lexington to collect things like pencils and paper for anyone who may not get them otherwise.
Lafayette High School football players were just one group who helped put the suppies in the packs at Gardenside Christian Church Tuesday morning.
Volunteers will be passing them out at noon Saturday at Carver Neighborhood Center, Shiloh Baptist Church, Douglass Park, First Baptist Church Bracktown, Gainsway Center, Gardenside Christian Church, Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Green Acres Shelter, Imani Family Life Center, Marlboro Park, Pralltown/ Lou Johnson Park, Russell Cave Church of Christ, Coolivan Park, Spiegel Heights Park, Temple of Prayer, Total Grace, Valley Park, and Woodhill Park.
Registration is required and will take place at each site from 9:00-11:00 Saturday.
Children must be with a parent or guardian in order to get suppies.
