80 people targeted in Pulaski Co. drug roundup

PUALSKI CO., Ky.(WTVQ) – The Pulaski Co. Sheriff says deputies along with several branches of law enforcement conducted the third county-wide drug roundup since January of 2015.

Officers from the various agencies divided up into teams early Wednesday morning in search of about 80 individuals wanted on District Court Warrants for various drug offenses. The majority of the offenses were for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance.

In April of 2015, the Sheriff’s Office drug roundup targeted 47 individuals who were indicted on 70 felony drug charges. That operation was followed in June with a predominately heroin trafficking roundup of 18 suspects charged with 33 felony offenses related to drug trafficking.

By the end of this year the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division will have opened approximately 250 drug related cases according to Sheriff Speck. The breakdown of those 250 cases reveals 24% heroin, 24% methamphetamine, 35% oxycodone, 14% other prescription drugs, and 3% marijuana related arrest warrants.
