#8 Kentucky moves on to 7-0 with 29 point win over Georgia State
Wildcats face Clemson and Gonzaga on the road next week
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW)- #8 Kentucky men’s basketball is 7-0 after a second half salvo took down Georgia State 105-76 at home on Friday.
Here are three things to know as the Cats stay unbeaten in 2024 and face Clemson on Tuesday in South Carolina then Gonzaga on Saturday in Seattle.
Two’s Will Do
Kentucky shot under 30 percent from behind the arc, but pivoted to another strength. The Wildcats scored 62 points in the paint and shot over 60 percent from field goal range. The veteran team seems to adapt fast.
“It’s huge. It shows we can score in a variety of ways,” said Jaxon Robinson. “We’re always taking to each other.”
Go (Double) Figure
Seven UK players scored in double figures versus Georgia State. Andrew Carr, Amari Williams, Otega Oweh, Lamont Butler, Robinson, Koby Brea and Ansley Almonor all got in on the fun.
“It’s just great having teammates. We all make shots. We all work hard and we’re such a talented team, so it’s great to go out there,” said Almonor.
Hoops Program Prowess
For the fifth time in school history, both Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball teams stand at 7-0 to start the season.
Kenny Brooks’ #14 Wildcats won two games versus 19 Illinois and Arizona State in Nashville this week. Mark Pope’s team is the first UK men’s team to go 7-0 since 2016.
