UPDATE: Animal group says rescues are needed for 120-plus surrendered dogs
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Volunteers with Friends of Laurel County Animal Shelter say they now need rescues for more than 120 dogs. The group made the plea on Facebook after it says the animals were surrendered.
The Laurel County Animal Shelter had previously announced that it was not accepting animals. It says it had to issue the alert after it took in 200 dogs from Homeward Bound Animal Rescue. Investigators say the Homeward Bound director, Stephanie Fields, was charged with animal cruelty after a raid. The shelter took in the dogs as the court case moves forward.
The Laurel County Animal Shelter says its ‘Red Alert’ has ended. Information on the animals in need of rescue can be found here.
