Two students shot near Kentucky State University campus

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Frankfort Police say two students were shot near the Kentucky State University campus early Wednesday morning.

Officers say a car with tree students pulled into Rose’s Car Wash on East Main Street around 2:40. Shortly after, a second car pulled into the parking lot and someone inside the car started shooting.

Kirtric Ploucha, 20 and a KSU student, was shot in the arm. She was treated and released from the hospital. Donta Berry, 24 and a student from Central University in Ohio, was shot in the stomach. At last check he was going in for surgery.

Police say the driver, who was not hurt, was able to drive the victims down the street and flagged down a KSU police officer for help.

No descriptions of a suspect or possibly suspects were available.

Detectives say there was an altercation during a party at the American Legion but they’re not sure if that might have caused to shooting.

Kentucky State is conducting its own investigation to ensure the safety of campus.
