Franklin Co. Sheriff investigates hit-and-run

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Franklin Co. Sheriff’s Office says it’s investigating a hit and run accident involving a man accused of injuring a police officer.

Russell Wheat was arrested on Tuesday.  Wheat is the same man arrested and charged with assault in 2011 after a chase and crash that hurt Frankfort police officer Byron Redmon who was trying to stop Wheat.

Wheat was also accused of dragging an officer as he left a gas station a few months later.
