Community gathers for funeral of boy killed in burglary

VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ)- Hundreds of people gathered to remember the life of Logan.
A nightmarish week in Versailles is about to come to an end but the tragedy is sure to be felt for some time as six-year-old Logan Tipton is set to be laid to rest. Logan’s funeral was at Falling Springs Recreation Center because he played football there.
His life stopped short, police say, by Ronald Exantus, a man from Indianapolis now accused of stabbing the child earlier in the week. Police say he’s confessed to it.
While a mourning community can’t answer why, it can reassure Logan’s family, it’ll always be there. A fitting, football themed memorial was held for the public visitation.
“Logan was a really good kid,” said the boy’s teammate, Sam Sewell.
That’s the general consensus about the six-year-old. Even his older teammates, spoke about Logan’s energy. “He used to say, ‘Sam I want to go against you’ and I’d say,’ why don’t you just go against your teammate?’ And he goes, ‘yea.'”
Mason-Shirley Plumbing, a Versailles business, is collecting gifts. Owner Serena Wilson on her first thoughts after hearing of Logan’s passing:
“Logan’s siblings and what I could do to possibly make them feel better because I have four kids of my own and we would be lost without each other.”
