AAA projects 42 million Americans traveling this Thanksgiving
Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) – According to AAA nationally 42 million Americans will travel by car during the
Thanksgiving weekend, the highest volume for the holiday since 2007.
Drivers should expect and plan to encounter delays, angry drivers, and bumper to bumper traffic during peak travel times
which include this afternoon and late Sunday.
“Drive gently, avoiding sudden maneuvers,” said AAA spokesperson Lilla S. Mason, “the extra weight of passengers and
luggage will affect how your car handles.”
AAA offers the following tips for drivers taking a road trip this Thanksgiving:
*Allow extra time to get to your destination.
*Stay out of the left lane unless you are actively passing.
*Keep a 4-5 second following distance at highway speeds.
*Give speeders and tailgaiters room to get around you.
*Drive gently, your car will handle differently fully loaded with passengers and luggage. ***
