KSP: Semi driver arrested after Whitley County collision

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ)- State police say drugs and alcohol are suspected factors in a semi collision in Whitley County.

Troopers say it happened around 4:00pm today on I-75, near the 8 mile marker. State police say 54-year-old  Richard Van-Lannen of Cato, Wisconsin was headed south when he lost control of his semi. They say the tractor trailer hit a cable barrier, crossed the median, then came back into southbound lane and collided with an SUV.

According to investigators, prescription medication and alcohol were found in the semi. They say Van-Lannen was arrested.

State police say traffic was rerouted for about two hours while crews cleared the interstate.
